Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 January 2026 Outline

Observe how the prophet describes the sins of Judah (Jeremiah 17:1). The prevailing sinful condition in Judah was influencing the lives of children very negatively. Children and the younger generation were exposed to evil vices of ritual killings and all kinds of idol worship. In what ways are our lifestyles similarly influencing the younger generation negatively today?

Read Jeremiah 17:1-4 again and observe how far-reaching the consequences of God’s judgment over sin can be. When God decides to punish sin, no one can control the consequences. It is like a wildfire, just like we see in many nations of the world that are battling with both human and natural disasters without success.
From Jeremiah 17:9, identify the nature of the human heart from where these evils come (cf. Mark 7:21-23, Ezekiel 36:26.)

Read Jeremiah 17:5-6 again and take note of the warning against putting our trust in men. Trusting in God and obedience to His word is the only hope of experiencing divine blessing (Jeremiah 17:7-8). On the contrary, putting our trust in human beings, or other things rather than in God will bring shame and God’s curse upon our lives and nation (Jeremiah 17:10-13; cf. Revelation 22:12).

Prayer of Faith
Psalms 27:13
